Arsenal emerged from a tense game at Anfield on Sunday to earn a hard-fought point after two fantastic saves from Aaron Ramsdale denied Liverpool a maddening finish.
Arsenal surrendered a two-goal lead to Liverpool on Sunday to drop back in the Premier League title race.
The Gunners were 2-0 up at Anfield after 28 minutes thanks to early goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus. But Liverpool roared into the game thanks to a goal from Mohamed Salah, before Roberto Firmino deservedly equalized at the back post in the 87th minute.
It could also have been worse when Salah missed a penalty and Aaron Ramsdale had to make two remarkable saves to deny Salah and Ibrahima Konate.
Arsenal could have extended their lead over Manchester City to eight points, but had to settle for a six-point cushion. Here are the latest headlines regarding Mikel Arteta’s team.
Ramsdale’s acceptance
Arsenal took a point from Liverpool thanks largely to Ramsdale, who sharply denied Salah and Konate late in a chaotic game.
The goalkeeper struggled to sum up his emotions during a post-match interview with Sky Sports, who asked him if he had won a point or had lost two.
“A bit of both,” he replied. “We managed to go deep at the end but we had a couple of good chances when we came to Anfield and played really well but we’ve got to survive as well so I think right now it will be : mixed feelings.
“It’s definitely going to be a very good score over the next few days. Maybe (it lost points) but I just came off the pitch and we were just under pressure for 35 minutes, whatever, and we managed to get a point at Anfield.

Carragher criticizes Xhaka
Jamie Carragher has accused Granit Xhaka of being “stupid” for tackling Trent Alexander-Arnold in the first half.
Xhaka lunged at the Liverpool full-back and tackled him after reacting angrily to Konate’s missed free-kick. Carragher felt it unnecessarily hyped up the Anfield crowd and affected the match.
“I think that’s how it worked (Liverpool’s start). It seems stupid, I’m glad Xhaka did it, but I’m angry at Xhaka,” he told Sky Sports after the game.
“I’m not an Arsenal fan, but if I was an Arsenal fan, what do you do, do you do that?” That’s absolutely ridiculous. The game is in your hands, you get involved, even lead the challenge, why not? And now to go back head-to-head with Trent angers the crowd and for Xhaka to do that is absolutely stupid.”

Arteta outlines the Anfield class
Mikel Arteta dismissed Carragher’s assessment of the flare-up which saw both players booked in the first half.
However, the head of the “gunners” believes that his players should take something from the game. that they should make the most of their purple pies in the games.
“I don’t know if that’s the case,” he said in his post-match press conference when asked if the Xhaka incident had changed the mood at the stadium.
“After that we had a great opportunity. If we score 3-0, maybe the crowd won’t get too excited. After that they scored a goal and that changed the momentum and hope. However, we have to play more in the second half. That’s the lesson, stick to what we did in the first half, play with our personality and that’s how we have to keep playing.”
