Billie Shepherd hits back at trolls accusing her of taking free trips

Billie Shepherd has fired back defiantly at trolls who accused her of taking a free holiday on Sunday.

The former TOWIE star, 33, traveled to the Maldives with her husband Greg and three children where they filmed their show The Family Diaries on ITV.

But some trolls took to the comments under her holiday Instagram this week to express their annoyance that she was on a “free trip”.

One fan, however, defended Billie – to which the star responded by saying that ITV had in fact not paid for the getaway.

The fan said after seeing the troll comments, “These comments are ridiculous!! Some people need to have a serious word with themselves. Don’t like what you see unfollow?? These aren’t a free vacation or it would say add!And if it was the case ???

Genre: A fan then joined in Billie’s defense – to which the star responded by saying that ITV had in fact not paid for the getaway

“Most of us would jump at the chance of a free vacation on our local seaside, let alone halfway around the world in paradise! They work hard and can spend their money however they want!!! Stop being jealous people!

Billie wrote in response: ‘Thank you ❤️ I never normally comment… but I can see this has caused a bit of noise on my feed.

“ITV doesn’t pay for our vacations and never has…we pay for our own vacations and film a reality show following our lives, which includes tracking our vacations during filming times.”

A troll had previously posted under the holiday snaps: “How many free holidays per year?”

Another said: “Why brag about it?” When some people can’t even pay their bills!

Someone else wrote: ‘Another holiday!’, while another wrote: ‘Another amazing holiday.’

A fourth said: ‘Lovely when you get a free holiday because I know you’ve been there many times!

Another troll said, “Not a good message when people are struggling to pay their bills.”

It comes after Billie and her mother Suzie Wells revealed their impressive numbers as they enjoyed a family holiday in the Maldives on Thursday.

Billie and her mum, 54, looked amazing in swimwear, taking time to relax and unwind.

Billie, who is sister to Samantha Faiers, posed for a sweet photo with husband Greg Shepherd, standing on a swing in a plunging red bikini.

She captioned her post with a heart emoji and two palm trees as she spent some quality time with her hubby.

Meanwhile, Suzie donned a blue and white striped bikini, smiling broadly and looking carefree as she embraced life in paradise.

The beauty added a straw hat and sunglasses to the ensemble, writing on Instagram: ‘Love life in the Maldives’, along with a heart emoji.

Earlier this month, Billie insisted her children are unaffected by fame, despite starring on their reality show Billie & Greg: The Family Diaries.

She is a mother of three, sharing daughter Nelly, eight, son Arthur, five, and baby girl Margot, three months, with husband Greg.

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline, Billie explained that her older children aren’t fazed by being in the limelight as it’s all they’ve ever known.

She added that she and Greg encouraged Nelly and Arthur to be open with their feelings and insisted that they would stop filming if the children decided they no longer wanted to be on the show.

She says: ‘We have always said that our priority is the children, we must think of them first.

“But Nelly said the other day, ‘Oh mum, some friends saw us on TV! But it’s really funny because it didn’t really affect them.

“Obviously Greg and I don’t know what it is because we weren’t on a TV show when we were younger.

“But it’s normal for them, and their friends who aren’t fazed about it.” I tell the kids that we’re a normal family, but our job is to film for a TV show.

Billie added: ‘We are always honest in our house and tell the kids something is bothering you?

Not happy: Billie wrote in response: ‘ITV doesn’t pay for our holidays and has never paid¿ we pay for our own holidays and film a reality show following our lives which includes tracking our holidays during the shooting periods”

She joked, “And I know with Nelly and Arthur they sure wouldn’t be shy to tell us if there was anything!”

“Fortunately so far and hopefully longer they don’t have a problem because they don’t know anything different.”

“Kids don’t even pay attention to the cameras, they just aren’t fazed by it. We film with the children but there are no expectations for them. If they want to get involved, they will.

“There will be a day when they say I don’t want to do it anymore and we’ll just find a new format.”
