- Film legend Jack Nicholson was seen for the first time in 18 months
- The icon was pictured on the balcony of her Beverly Hills resort enjoying the morning air
- Nicholson, 85, was last seen in October 2021 watching his beloved LA Lakers alongside his son, Ray
Jack Nicholson was seen for the first time in 18 months hanging out on the balcony of his infamous Mullholland Drive resort in Beverly Hills.
The triple Oscar winner The disheveled appearance comes after multiple reports suggested the star’s pals feared he would die alone, in the same way as his former neighbor and fellow screen legend Marlon Brando.
Nicholson, 85, is arguably La La Land’s most famous bachelor. He was married for four years before making it big in Hollywood. His most famous romance with Angelica Houston ended nearly 25 years ago.
The shining star was last seen in October 2021 alongside his lookalike son, Ray, sitting courtside watching his beloved LA Lakers. Ray, 31, is one of the few people Nicholson stays in contact with, according to reports.
On Thursday, Nicholson was photographed enjoying the cool air overlooking the Franklin Canyon Reservoir. He wore a baggy pale orange shirt and baggy sweatpants as he leaned against a balcony railing on the crisp morning outing.
Nicholson took turns sitting and standing while enjoying the Los Angeles morning. In a video exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com, birds could be heard chirping as he tapped on the balcony railings.
At one point, the One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest star stared intently at a helicopter flying overhead.
“He made it clear that his home was his castle. But people just wish he’d come out of the house and show up to tell them how – or at least reassure people he’s fine,’ an unnamed friend told Radar Online in January.
“Jack is in contact with some parents – especially Ray, his protege, of whom he is so proud – but his days of socializing are long gone,” they added.
Her last screen appearance was in 2010’s How Do You Know, starring Owen Wilson and Reese Witherspoon.
The New Jersey native dodged rumors for years that he had retired as he struggled with dementia and was unable to remember his lines.
In January, his unnamed friend told Radar that while Nicholson was physically fit, “his spirit is gone.”
Shortly after this information was published, former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly said on an episode of his show No Spin News that reports that Nicholson’s mental health had declined were ” bull”.
“I visited Jack Nicholson a few months ago. I had a long chat with him and he follows No Spin news very closely and had all kinds of smart questions for me,’ O’Reilly said.
“I’ve been friends with him for decades. He’s 85, okay? But he’s more intellectually nimble than the President of the United States,’ the former Inside Edition host continued.
Despite his confirmed single status, Nicholson fathered six children by five different women.
Nicholson has been criticized for never acknowledging his paternity of his alleged daughter Tessa Gourin, born of his brief affair with waitress Jeanine Gourin.
In February, Tessa, an aspiring actress, published an essay in Newsweek titled “I’m Jack Nicholson’s Daughter – Wish People Called Me Baby Nepo.”
“Growing up without my dad, I sat on the sidelines and watched in frustration as other famous kids landed roles or were signed to huge agencies,” she wrote.
“More recently, I’ve become even more frustrated with what I believe is a missed opportunity for these so-called ‘nepo babies’ to take ownership of their position and embrace it instead of complaining about it,” continued Tessa.
In a separate interview with The Daily Beast, Tessa said she was told from a young age not to tell people who her father was. She said the actor was “a complicated person” and that his birth was “collateral damage”.
Nicholson’s other children are Jennifer Nicholson, born in 1963 when he married Sandra Knight, and a son, Caleb, born to girlfriend Susan Anspach in 1970.
In 1981, Danish model Winnie Hollman gave birth to her third child, Honey. Her youngest children, Lorraine and Ray, were born to actress Rebecca Broussard.
Nicholson had a somewhat controversial upbringing from the start – after his mother, a single showgirl named June Frances Nicholson, gave birth to the actor at 18, his parents decided to raise him as their own child, claiming that June was his sister.
For nearly four decades, Jack believed his mother to be his brother, until 1974 when Time magazine found out the truth and told him of their findings.
Speaking to Patrick McGilligan for his biography, titled Jack’s Life, the Shining star called it “the most fucked up thing he’s ever heard.”
He also said the discovery was “dramatic”, but added that it “wasn’t” something he “would describe as traumatic”.
The actor later told Rolling Stone when asked about the shocking revelation: “I was very impressed with their ability to keep it a secret, if nothing else.” He did great things for me.
June moved away from Jack – who grew up in Neptune City, New Jersey – when he was four to pursue her career as a showgirl.
But when he was 17, he decided to move to California to be with her, where he landed a job as a secretary for animation directors William Hanna and Joseph Barbera at MGM cartoon studio.
At the same time, he was also studying to be an actor, and he eventually landed his first role in the 1958 teen drama The Cry Baby Killer.
After that, his career quickly took off – and Nicholson became one of the best-known actors of all time, landing more than 70 roles in a host of major movies and TV shows over his 50-year career.
Some of his best known acting credits include The King of Marvin Gardens, Anger Management, The Crossing Guard, The Pledge, The Little Shop of Horrors, The Witches of Eastwick, Hoffa, Mars Attacks!, Carnal Knowledge, Batman, Ironweed , Reds , Easy Rider, Something’s Gotta Give, The Last Detail, The Departed, Prizzi’s Honor, Chinatown, About Schmidt, As Good as It Gets, Terms of Endearment, Five Easy Pieces, A Few Good Men, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest , and , of course, The Shining.
As his career flourished, so did his love life – and by the 1980s he had established a solid reputation as a player.
Nicholson’s lovers have included actresses, singers and models such as Michelle Phillips, Jill St. John, Winnie Hollman, Bebe Buell, Lara Flynn Boyle, Kate Moss, Paz de la Huerta and Rebecca Broussard.
Playboy model Karen Mayo-Chandler once said of the star, “He’s a non-stop sex machine,” while actress Kim Basinger called him “the sexiest individual she has ever had.” has ever met”.
In Marc Eliot’s book about the actor, titled Nicholson, he said much of his time at the height of his career was filled with “24 hour parties, drinks, drugs, sex, lots of tea (the smoking type), and beautiful, hot, willing girls who liked to be as stoned as the boys and have a good time.
“The fridge never held any food. Just milk (for Jack’s sometimes sensitive stomach), beer and jar in the freezer to keep it fresh,’ he wrote.
